Who is responsible for training young people spiritually: churches or parents?

The answer is both.

God’s Word commands parents to train up a child in the way he should go (Proverbs 22:6). It also directs churches to support them in this critical endeavor. These two powerful institutions working together is the biblical blueprint for developing spiritually strong children and youth who follow our Savior for life.

At Glyndale Baptist Church we believe that Jesus can change children and children can change the world. In order for that to happen, children need training. That is where the AWANA program comes in.

Awana is an international, Bible-centered student ministry intently focused on furnishing churches with programs, materials, and training that reach kids with the gospel and train them for Christian service. Awana helps us raise children to know, love, and serve Jesus Christ.

The acronym AWANA comes from Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed which is founded on II Timothy 2:15, “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.”

At Glyndale we offer clubs for age 2 to 5th grade. ALL clubs are led by trained adults.
